Ed Segner

Edmund P. Segner, III is Professor in the Practice in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Rice University. He is the former President and Chief of Staff of EOG Resources, Inc., (EOG) one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. EOG Resources, Inc. is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as EOG and is a member of the S&P 500. Mr. Segner served as EOG’s principal financial officer and was a director. He graduated cum laude from Rice University with a B.S. degree in civil engineering and received an M.A. degree in economics from the University of Houston. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. He is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Glassock School of Continuing Studies at Rice. He is past Chairman of the Board of Community Partners, a healthcare social service agency serving Houston children, past Chair of The Nature Conservancy of Texas, and a former Trustee of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Alley Theatre. Mr. Segner also serves as director of Archrock, Inc., Highpoint Resources, and Laredo Petroleum, Inc. Mr. Segner is the recipient of the 2017 George R. Brown Award for Superior Teaching from Rice which is among the school's most prestigious teaching awards. Segner was also awarded 2019 & Co-Professor and 2012 Professor of the Year Award for Civil & Environmental Engineering by the Rice chapters of ASCE and Chi Epsilon as well as the Chi Epsilon Excellence in Teaching Award for the Southwest District in 2010-11.
