Dr. David Messmer was named Director of FWIS in 2018. He earned his PhD in English Literature from Rice University in 2009 and has been teaching various communication courses here ever since. He has published multiple scholarly articles in the field of African American literature and maintains research interests in that field, as well as in twentieth century American literature, graphic novels, and creative writing. Messmer is a past Resident Associate at Sid Richardson College.
