Dr. Chris Braun has been a college educator for over ten years and has designed and written five de novo courses for college curricula. His teaching has ranged from courses on introductory programming and computational thinking to applications of algorithms, data structures, and de novo AI architecture design for coursework, student theses, and capstone projects.
A common thread through his research work is an interdisciplinary approach of using data science techniques to examine problems in the fields of health, biology, medicine, and higher education. Some projects include: using data science algorithms to investigate the U.S. opioid epidemic, mining RNA Sequencing data to elucidate epigenetic inheritance in Arabidopsis thaliana, probing private insurance company patient data to identify candidates for hepatic vein stenting, and data science education in the era of generative AI.
