Anjum Chida brings a wealth of experience spanning many years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and passion in educating both undergraduate and graduate students. She is steadfast in her commitment to creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment for all students, emphasizing observational and participatory learning.
Anjum earned her Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Madras, India, in 2004. Subsequently, she pursued her master's and Ph.D. degrees at Georgia State University, graduating in 2008 and 2012, respectively. Before joining Rice in 2024, she held the position of Associate Professor of Instruction at University of Texas at Dallas.
Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the three-dimensional structures of proteins generated by prediction algorithms. To accomplish this, she employed innovative machine learning techniques, specifically fuzzy decision trees, to assess the viability of these digital protein models. In addition to her research endeavors, Dr. Anjum Chida actively integrates teaching with scholarly pursuits. She is presently engaged in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) projects, aiming to make substantial contributions to computer science education. Her overarching aspiration is to synergize her research expertise with her extensive teaching background, thereby making notable contributions to the advancement of computer science education.
