Alec Arellano is a political theorist with research interests in liberalism and its critics, American political thought, contemporary democratic theory, and constitutional theory. He has taught classes in political theory, U.S. constitutional law, law and society, and American politics. Prior to coming to Rice University, he was a Visting Assistant Professor at Occidental College. He earned his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, and his B.A. from Colorado College. His scholarly development has also been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Jack Miller Center.

Research Areas

History of Western political thought, contemporary democratic theory, American political thought, constitutional law and theory.
