As a community ecologist, my research concerns the dynamic nature of biotic interactions and how they relate to spatiotemporal variation in population dynamics, succession, rates of nutrient flux through ecosystems, and (ultimately) evolutionary change. This work draws heavily on experiments, theory, and genomic data. My study systems of choice are aquatic and carnivorous plants, and their microbial associates. However, as a natural history enthusiast, I’m happy to work on whichever taxonomic group is most useful for addressing a particular research problem.
