Elizabeth Eich is Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry and Professor in the Practice in BioSciences at Rice University. Her work to incorporate active learning and mentorship of others earned her the title National Academies Education Mentor in the Life Sciences. Much of her work has focused on providing engaging experiences to first-year students in lecture and laboratory courses to spark a life-long curiosity about science. She has also been active in communication instruction for both undergraduate and graduate students in natural sciences. She earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Rice University and a B.S. in Genetics and Biochemistry from Texas A&M University.
